The Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University is committed to supporting veterans and their families as they navigate their entrepreneurial journey. For more than a decade, the IVMF has served over 120,000 veterans and we are just getting started. Arm yourself for entrepreneurship success with the IVMF’s ARSENAL of programs.
Ideation – For veterans and spouses who are interested in starting their own business, ARSENAL has two in-person training events available. Boots to Business (B2B) Introduction to Entrepreneurship and IGNITE is a one-day entrepreneurship training event offered in cities across the U.S…. Learn more here
Startup – ARSENAL has 3-phase programs that assist veteran and military spouse entrepreneurs take their business idea to the next stage in development. V-WISE is a premier training program in entrepreneurship and small business management. EBV and EBV-F are programs offered that provide participants with the knowledge and tools that will help get their business up and running. Learn more here
Growth – EBV Accelerate and the Veteran EDGE Conference are programs of ARSENAL that provide veterans and military spouses with a successful business the tools, resources, networks and coaching necessary to grow their business. Career Training
Onward to Opportunity (O2O) is a free career training program that provides professional certification and employee support services to transitioning service members, veterans and military spouses. O2O combines industry-validated curricula, strong partnerships with leading veteran service organizations and private sector companies, and comprehensive career coaching services to prepare and match you with your next career.
COVID-19 Update: The O2O program remains operational (in a virtual capacity) to ensure your needs are met as an O2O learner. If you have circumstances that prohibit you from participating in the program at this point, please contact us immediately to discuss your options.

Learning Pathways and Career Course Offerings – Onward to Opportunity (O2O) is a no-cost industry-focused and validated career skills program that connects transitioning service members and active duty military spouses to high-demand careers in Customer Service Excellence, Information Technology, and Business Management. Training is designed to meet the needs of private sector partners to help bridge the gap between the military-connect population and skills the employers are seeking.
All in-person installation candidates begin O2O by completing an introductory professional development course, Onward to Your Career!, then move on to complete the courses in their selected learning pathways. Distance learners will have the opportunity to learn more about professional development offerings once they begin the online cohort.

AmericaServes – Improving the Way Communities Care for Veterans, Service Members & Their Families – AmericaServes provides veterans, transitioning service members, and their families access to a simple and effective way to access and navigate a range of supportive services in their communities. AmericaServes is the country’s first coordinated network of organizations dedicated to serving the military community by connecting them to the resources specific to their unique needs.
