LILA TEUNISSEN AND MICHELLE THOMSEN, BED N’ BISCUIT RANCH

Lila Teunissen joined the Army after graduating high school and was most recently employed as a Commander in the North Dakota National Guard.  Michelle Thomsen is a current employee of the North Dakota National Guard.

They both came to their dream of business ownership from different directions, but they found common ground in one major area – a love of dogs.

Lila and Michelle saw a need for quality dog boarding services for fellow service members while they deployed or went to drill. As they began discussing that need, the idea grew, and they turned to the SBA for help to turn their idea into reality.

To start, Lila and Michelle worked with their local Women’s Business Center to achieve their Women-Owned Business designation. The center then referred the duo to the Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) of the Dakotas for additional resources, including Boots to Business.

The Dakotas VBOC team gave them the marketing support they needed to help amplify their budding business. From there, the Bed N’ Biscuit Ranch was born. The Ranch is your pet’s home away from home, which provides boarding, grooming, training, and daycare services for pets. Lila and Michelle are enjoying the happiness that time with animals brings them both.

This was a success story shared by the SBA
